NaNoWriMo: Winner!

I did it! I actually wrote 50,000 words in a month while studying abroad! This is just a short celebratory post since I’m excited but also super busy with school (finals are even more stressful when they’re all in Spanish).

I got worried towards the second half of the month because my weekend trips made it impossible to write a lot. I almost gave up after the first trip, but I’m glad I didn’t. After the second one I was extremely discouraged, but told myself I had written 10,000 in a few days before and could do so again. I caught up the last three days. It was rough as school has not given me a lot of free time and sadly essays are more important at the moment. I got hit pretty hard with writer’s block at the very end too, but it’s over now!

Now I can actually work on my finals and focus on enjoying my last three weeks here. I’m looking forward to spending the last part of December and all of January on revisions. Like I said in my first post about my NaNoWriMo adventure in the past, I wrote a lot of mostly connecting short stories instead of one long novel since I don’t have the time to focus so intensely on one project. Now to divide them all out and see which ones are worth keeping to work more on and which I’ll put aside. I’m excited and so content. What a great month.

Congratulations! That’s an incredible feat. I have never finished NaNoWriMo all the times I did it.

Good luck with the next step. Interconnected short stories was a clever idea, and even if you don’t keep a story you’ve already built up that world..
